Administrator
of Estate of Janice M. Fahey |
12/2002-6/2003 |
 |
 |
Janice
M. Fahey, my sister-in-law, died intestate on September 26, 2002.
Against the advice of a local estate/trust attorney, who suggested
that my husband should simply walk away from the problem and let
creditors take over, I conducted (in pro per) the entire probate
of my sister-in-law’s estate. Although she was in debt, I was
able to manage her creditors, get her condominium sold, resolve
all her outstanding debt, and turn over residual assets in excess
of $60,000 to her sole survivor (my husband.) I handled all paperwork
and legal filings. I was also successful in getting the probate
referee’s appraisal waived, against his protestations.
