A Life Remembered

- Fallacies
There are some common fallacies of thought that
keep us trapped. They can be broken down into categories of denial and
admittal, to self and to others. These thought fallacies are common
for all abuses, simply substitute "food", "drugs", "TV", or whatever
for "alcohol". DON'T believe them, and don't let others believe
them either!

Denying to self
Fallacy #1:
- If I deny an alcohol problem, I can achieve my goals, enjoy life, be successful
|
Admitting to self
Fallacy #2:
- If I have an alcohol problem, I am weak
- If I am weak, I must be inferior
- If I am inferior, I am worthless and can't be respected, valued, loved (etc.)

|
Denying to others
Fallacy #3:
- If I deny an alcohol problem, I can successfully hide it from others
- If I can hide my alcohol problem from others, I don't have a problem
|
Admitting to others
Fallacy #4:
- If I admit to an alcohol problem, I am perceived as weak
- If I am perceived as weak, I won't be respected, valued, loved (etc.)
